Position Description

Location: Columbia City/Seward Park area
Schedule: Approximately 10:00am–4:00pm, M-F (Some flexibility with hours, can discuss)
 Dates: July and August 2026
Pay: $25-35/hour, depending on experience and number of children

About the Role

We are seeking a thoughtful, energetic caregiver to spend the summer with a small group of children (1-3 kids, ages 5-8). This role is less about “babysitting” and more about intentional engagement: creating days that balance outdoor exploration, creative projects, and learning through play. You’ll have room to bring your own ideas, interests, and creativity into the day.

This position is ideal for someone curious about how children learn, grow, and express themselves — and who enjoys being outside, making things, and asking good questions alongside kids. We would be excited to customize the experience to your skills and interests – Do you prefer speaking Spanish? Great. Do you love rock climbing? Let’s do it. We hope to integrate learning and skills development into the summer but in a play-based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Engage 1–3 kids (ages 5-8) in safe, age-appropriate, and meaningful activities
  • Prepare and serve simple meals and snacks (you are welcome to involve the kids here)
  • Light cleanup related to daily activities
  • Communication with parents about daily activities and adventures

Who You Are

  • A current or former student who will be located in Seattle for the summer
  • Comfortable working with young children and eager to be actively involved
  • Reliable, communicative, and kind
  • CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain) and able to pass a background check

Why This Is a Great Summer Role

  • Consistent daytime hours with breathing room to enjoy your own Seattle summer
  • Opportunity to practice skills relevant to teaching, caregiving, or child-centered work
  • Freedom to bring your own creativity and ideas into the role
  • Meaningful, hands-on experience working closely with young children
