Researchers at UW recently studied students at six elementary schools in Seattle to learn how they communicate with and about each other. Turns out they talk a lot about who may or may not be carriers of cooties. In other words, they gossip a lot. Other revelations include: kids love cartoons, hate broccoli and will not stop picking their noses.

The University of Washington has named Tom Stritikus dean of the school?s college of education. Stritikus succeeds Patricia Wasley, who has been dean for the past 10 years and who will return to the school?s faculty. He?s currently the associate dean of academic programs and will take over on Sept. 16, subject to approval by the school?s board of regents.
